I suspect that this will grow into a major news story as the night progresses....

Well you know, we can discuss it. But you don't have to, it's OK.

Looking a the google streetview - there doesn't seem to be much there except a few smashed up cars, a tyre place, a scrappy and some more chop shops car repair centres.

Very little in the way of facts right now, stuff on Twitter just repeating the same info from BBC. Nothing on BBC News or Sky News.

Looks like there is a garage there with a couple of nice old Jags outside.

Several people have died in an explosion.

You may not give a damn, but that doesn't mean that other people don't care.

You should probably just avoid the thread.

Wild speculation time....

Due to the lack of smoke or flames etc being seen in the one tiny photo on the BBC website - anyone else thinking compressed air or similar?

Nasty things inflating tyres.....

Strange time for a garage to be still open though, google street view shows a 6-bay garage called Shaw Motor Services but it looks like there could be others further along the lane.

Nasty though.

5 people though?

i know you have to be careful when inflating tyres, but for car tyres at least i would have thought you have to be pretty nearby to really get hurt?

possibly a gas bottle exploded? oxy/acetelyne is potent stuff

As i said - wild speculation really - although a guy at a local scrapyard to us was killed when a lorry tyre he was inflating exploded - he wasn't using a cage.

But luckily for those involved the police have confirmed that it was one of the rarer quick explosions.

A Lincolnshire Police spokeswoman said she believed the explosion had been very quick and the men died instantly.

There are all sorts of little industrial units down there (many of them automotive), with a largish scrapper at the end of the lane. Many years ago, one of the scrapper's owners blew himself up when applying a welder to a petrol tank, having neglected to check the contents.

Could be anything, mind.
