Skab(by) patches

Puncture the other week showed a patch leaking. Replaced with another patched tube and 50 miles later (tonight) the same thing, lifting on one edge.

That's it, done with stty quick fixes and back to glue and traditional repairs. Will attempt to get my dosh back for these useless things although I won't hold my breath!

They're temporary fixes - as are 'proper' patches, but oldskool ones tend to last a little longer.

Just be glad you managed to finish the ride and buy a new tube!

Absolutely. Glad I started packing cheapo disposable gloves as well, came in handy! Just ordered a batch from Ribble and split with some guys in the club. Hardly worth messing around when they work out to £3 odd each!

Also The last time I changed a rear a wise old guy from the club showed me a very quick way to remove/refit the wheel without getting covered in crap and fighting with the rear mech. Sometimes the simple things are the ones that need a little attention to detail

I prefer the "modern" fix - swap out and replace the tube - repair is last resort (when you dont have a tube) to get you home.

for a quick fix instead of the puncture repair kits or other electrical tape works well sticks to itself and small roll in back of jersey is easy to carry, wrap round semi inflated tube before sticking back in tyre.

Inflating back up will keep the pressure all round against the inside of the tyre.

Update......

The replaced patched tube failed on the way home. 20 miles it lasted total rubbish these patches are. New tube in this time and no more Skab(by) patches.

Please take my advice and use them ONLY TO GET YOU HOME
