where do set you advance?

Quik question for those that set thier own timming mark...
Where is the best spot. I'm replacing the water pump - therefore the time belt, V belts, etc... - and I was wondering if anyone has found a 'sweet spot'. I know you can not advance this engine beyond 15 degrees BTDC, but other than setting on TDC, is anyone running a sweet spot between TDC and 15 degrees BTDC?
