What do you guys do about converting the lights? Can you stick those patches over the lenses??

I'm at a bit of a loss for ideas without replacing the headlights which seems a little extreme for a 5 day quick trip.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated,
Thanks smile

I've had my mk1 in France for 4 months and haven't changed the lights yet... I'm sure you don't need to change anything for a 3 days trip smile

I did this last year for the classic,

If you want to convert it properly the light unit rotates from the back, but it's a bit of a pain removing the bonnet at the port. TBH I wouldn't bother doing anything, we have done a two week Euro tour without any conversion or stickers.

And I was with Andy.....I went for the cheapskate option - Waited for dusk, pointed car at garage doors, and then covered light lens with black insulating tape to block the light pattern where it swept up and to the nearside. Oooh, about 2p's worth I reckon.
Did me for the LM Classic and a further 2 weeks in France.

Me too with black tape........thats if I bother.....not to say I dont care but my Mk2 lights seem to be on a low setting.
No one has ever flashed me and I make loads of trips to Germany, France, Spain etc.

+1. Shine the lights at a wall and put a bit of black tape over the lens to cut the top of the beam off. Job done

Never bothered to change mine either, even at Le Mans when they are meant to be strict on these things.

Don't forget to change the digital speedo into Kph!

Don't bother. I drive my RRS with UK lights daily over here, and only swap them over for MOT...

Edit: But if you want to do it properly, the light housings rotate so you can switch between RHD and LHD light images.

usually dont bother in the summer, or just carry some tape

Thanks for the replies. I didn't know the light housing reversed, very interesting. I think I'll just go with the tape option, not actually going to be driving at night but the car draws a bit of attention and anything to stop the french police pulling me over is a good thing.

You really shouldn't even bother, even with the tape, I've come across many brit cars here in France (going to the south of France for the holidays) and I seriously doubt they've done something with their lights.

My guess is, you're entitled to keeping your car as it is if you stay less then a few months over here.

btw: Cops aren't that annoying if you're not speeding smile
