RANDOM A40 Westway queues!! Westbound in the morning.

Little bit of a rant but does anyone else take the Westway towards Marylebone weekday mornings?
The queues sometimes stretch back all the way to the Paddington exit, BUT other mornings you can bomb all the up the the lights joining Marylebone road. Almost completely at random too, and your unable to judge the traffic until you stuck in it. And its really a 50/50 mix at the SAME time every morning. In my 12 months of commuting there seems to be no rhyme or reason to there being a queue or not.
The only saving grace of being caught in the traffic is the audibly tuned blue Ford Focus that bombs past at full chat on the empty eastbound site. Hat off to whoever that is, I open the window when I see him coming!! Pure induction roar... Anyone else see/hear this guy?
So there are shortcuts I can take, which I am willing to divulge to other PHers(!), but the A40 is quickest by far when clear.
