Lancia is back

Having seen quite a lot of Deltas over the last few months I have to say they look effing sweet both inside and out. Would anyone of yous buy one if it was available in UK? And what if it was called Chrysler?

That's been on sale for about 3 years!
Based on a Fiat something or other. They do look good, especially with Lancia's lovely colour range; but apparently they don't drive too well, and the engine options are pretty crap- there's no decent performance model, the emphasis is on turbodiesels

I was shocked by quite how ugly all of Lancia's cars seem to be last time I went to Italy. I suppose you're right that at least they're different, though...

I had a Lancia Ypsilon as a hire car in Italy a few years ago, thought it was a great little car which would have done well as a city car in the UK, and then Fiat brought out the 500 so that put pay to that.

Lancia isn't back in my mind. It's just a Fiat 'C' platform and a Chrysler/Fiat thing. Shouldn't be called a Delta S4.

I wish Lancia was back, closest we have is the new Stratos/Ferrari which I believe is on hold.

No, Lancia are the upmarket version of Fiat - VWs Audi so to speak....though more Rover if you see what I mean.

Having driven several over the past 2 years in Italy as rental car I can only comment that it's:
- not very good looking / oddly proportionate
- uncomfortable (seat bolsters too close together dig in your back (and I'm not big but it seem to have been designed for women with tight waists ie Italians))
- low quality standard inside and the white glow of the instruments makes everything look cheap.

'Good' point: there's a turbo gauge that you can select on the onboard computer on the 1.6 diesel...how cool.

Verdict: I prefer a Kia rental to that! At least it's not trying to be a jumped up Fiat Punto and it's got a stereo with an MP3 player jack...unlike the Lancia.

Perhaps the number of negative comments explain why Fiat didn't bother reintroducing Lancia here. Having not driven Delta I cannot comment on how it handles, but if it's based on Punto one would expect it should be softer but still quite good. I did drive Lybra in the past and it was a nice thing.



The looks are definitely something that make Delta stand out especially from the rear, each time I saw one I had to look. On the other hand each time I see the new fkus first I always take a second to analyse what it is then, once it's closer, I have to close my eyes.

If Lancia were thinking of coming back to the UK,then they need to build the new Fulvia they had doing the shows a couple of years ago...
