1.) That ain't no prequel, that's a remake & from the look of it in places, a shot for shot remake.
2.) Want to bet the girl somehow manages to escape?
3.) A black guy? In a camp full of Norwegians? In the 80's? Seriously?
4.) How bad was the CGI of the chopper at the begining?
5.) Character getting dragged away by their feet in a trailer, is now getting really old.

The only good things, the saucer and the Morricone score at the end.

Another my youths iconic movies pissed all over. rolleyes

i think the trailer looks good, its not the original, that is awesome, but could be a good basic horror.

I'm hugely excited since seeing the trailer last night.

For the last few years, as talk of a sequel/prequel has ebbed and flowed, I've wildly veered between dismayed and impatient and excited and annoyed.

Today, having watched that trailer again a few more times, I'm still excited.

It does look more re-make than different story, but I wonder just what you can do with a story that we all know is essentially the same as the 1982 one, only with crazy Swede subtitles.

And Mary Elizabeth Winstead in.

Trailers follow a certain pattern of showing snippets of escalating events. This trailer follows the format. It doesn't show anything more of the plot than we all already know, and it doesn't show any creature stuff apart from scant frames of silhouette. And a weird flicker of one guy's face that I can't be sure wasn't just my eyes.

Maybe I so want it to be excellent that I'm seeing hope and potential positives in spite of things? No pun intended.

But Evil Dead 2 is one of my favourite films and that's a bigger-budget remake of its predecessor while it pretends to be a sequel. Hmm.

I really like MEW though, and I love the whole ethos of The Thing. So to me, it still looks good.

And shivers when that theme comes in at the end, oh yes.

Ha Ha, thats right i forgot about the Proper Original, which is okay, but Carpenter's film is the best, fantastic creature effects, which i hope aren't replaced with too much CGI.

Need to get The Thing on DVD actually.
