HI my first post in the land rover section,
I bought the wife a disco 3 last week 58 plate done 25000 miles, since we got it usually when pulling up hills there is a message comes up on the dash 'engine system fault and it looses all power. it only does it now and again

had it at landrover yesterday and they changed the turbo boost valve, so they told me, and all was well but then did the same thing again last night.

has anyone had a similar problem any ideas what it could be, thanks for the help.

Back at dealers today, he says its the turbo itself that needs replacing but going to cheak it out in monday, hope he's wrong because its an expensive fix frown

Its most likely the turbo or the egr's are clogged up.

Sadly as yours is a 07 onwards, you cant blank the egr as it throws up warning lights.

Good luck, did you buy it from landrover, surely with such low miles, a good will guesture from LR could be asked??

If it's a 58 plate it's still under warranty...

I bought it from landrover and its still in warranty just, so its not too bad but i thought i was going to have to pay for it too start with.

just a pain after buying her a new motor and its been back in the garage twice in the week we've had it, its going back in on monday and they'll hopefully get to the bottom of it then.

I've had defenders for years and they're fantastic, is turbo's a common fault with discos?

thanks John

I have almost exactly the same issue and its been diagnosed as turbo failure. Getting quoted £1800 from an independent LR specialist to replace it - is that fairly reasonable? Its an 06 and unfortunately not under warranty cry
I can't argue too much as we've had it since new and other than boot release catch (which seemed to break on on all of them) its never had a single issue.

Orbit, im not 100% on that price.
If you go onto disco3.co.uk and use the search function theres a few treads about it, there may be a friendly indy/dealer near you on it that can do the work. smile

Good luck
