Just a friendly reminder for any people interested in coming on our Porsche only, (all models from across the ages welcome), trackday at Castle Combe Monday June 21st, to get you fingers out and book up as it`s getting closer by the day and we only have limited places available.

It`s a little different from most days in that it`s not being run commercially to make money. There is free tuition available as well as the chance to be driven round the circuit by current Porsche racing drivers in their cars, (some of the drivers have competed internationally including races that last for 24 hours and are held in countries that make their bread in long sticks!!).

Further detals on : www.911virgin.com/trackdays.htm

In particular if you`ve never done a trackday before this is ideal as there are no 400kg / 400bhp "road legal" race cars flying around to intimidate and no one is going to judge you, your car or your driving. It`s a fun day out.

There is even a very civilised lunch included in the price (£225 inc Vat. for a car and up to 2 people).

It`s not a "for profit" trackday so hopefully doesn`t fall foul of any posting rules.

A number of piston headers will be there, but don`t let that put you off - we can always base Mel at the other side of the paddock - some rule about too many stickers on the paintwork !!

Seriously it would be great to see some of you guys out there and hopefully we can make it a more than one a year event.

I think it`s 12 if memory serves me correctly.

What usually happens is that towards lunch and for the rest of the day it flows into an "open pit" arrangement with up to 12 cars being maintained on the circuit.

If previous years are anything to go by the last hour or so gets very quite indeed and at times you`ve almost got the circuit to yourself !

Is it a standard 100db or 'noisy' day ?

100db. In practice you shouldn`t have any problems with standard cars. If you are running a modified exhaust it may cause a problem although a 964 RS just running the final box got through ok.

There is a firm that sell end silencers on site which are handy, not just for Combe but some other venues that run 97db limits.

your 993 RS will be no problem in standard fettle.
