I'm looking for a job
Discussion
Hi, I’m hoping someone can help me.
I’m looking for a job, I am willing to do most things
I started in the security industry at 17, and worked my way up to operations manager, but I was refused my S.I.A. licence.
I then did agency work doing picking and packing.
I then became a multi drop, delivery driver
After been made redundant in December 08 I started caring for my wife, but now she has had a hip replacement, I am desperate to get back into a job
I am looking for something preferably within 15-20 miles of Creswell near Worksop
I’m 34, used to working with the public, and will try any job once
I have a full car up to 3.5 ton, and motor bike licences
I can supply a c.v. to any interested parties
Contact me via email to

This may sound odd to you, but here me out.....You will probably see that there are many "support worker" vacancies in your area working with Learning disabilities. Believe me this may not what you thought of, but involves working with people who find it difficult to cope for themselves and also involves holidays etc. Think about it, it's very rewarding and a responsible job.(helping with their everyday requirements, cooking etc in a house environment and driving them to various arranged activities)
I did this for many years before retiring, and thoroughly enjoyed myself including taking clients to Turkey, Blackpool and the Norfolk Broads (all paid for). Have a look and think about it.(Even ask at your local job centre). Some companies are crying out for them.
(This is a totally different job to care work in an old folks home which at best can be taxing).

Actually this is something i would be interested in, and i know the chalenges facing disabled people, as we have 2 autistic daughters.I did this for many years before retiring, and thoroughly enjoyed myself including taking clients to Turkey, Blackpool and the Norfolk Broads (all paid for). However, regretably i have a couple of cautions, and 1 conviction on record, would this stop me doing this type of work?
Although it would involve an enhanced CRB check, you should pass muster if you show at interview that you are genuine with an empathy towards folk with learning disabilities and declare your cautions/record. As long as you are not a serial abuser etc and are honest from the outset, I reckon you are home and dry.
There will be many organisations in your area looking for staff, as it takes a great deal of patience and understanding. If you feel you could fulfill this....Ask at your local job centre, look in the local papers and even approach the organisations direct. Most will also (whatever your age) offer you the opportunity to do NVQ.
