Had a phone call today from my mother to tell me she thinks my late fathers Omega has been stolen. It was in the house in a specific place and disappeared about a month or so ago. She thought I'd taken it ( it was left to me ) and so didnt think much of it until recently. Shes in the process of selling the house so there have been numerous tradesmen around and she has her suspicions of who it is, but anyway thats in the hands of the police now.
My question is are there any places we can post details a missing watch ?
Its quite unusual being one of those chunky Speedmaster 2's from the early 70's and we have the box with the serial numbers still.

Finally got the details.
The model was an Speedmaster 2 st 145 014.
The serial number is 31628015.
Its quite a well worn example but still on the original Omega strap. One distinguishing feature is that Dad being a bit of a cheapskate had a service done a few years back by a non Omega dealer and at the time they painted over the tacho numbers on the inside of the glass. Its just plain black now.
If anyone could 'spread the word' Id be grateful.
Many thanks
Guy.

In addition to the sound advice already posted, if I were you I'd probably also drop a line to all of the local jewellers and auction houses - perhaps local Cash Converters/pawn shops too? - just in case someone decides that they want it servicing, valuing, or selling.
Hope it turns up!

Because there is a section specifically for details of lost and stolen watches, which is very quiet, Id advise that you join some other forums yourself and post the details. TZ is the best forum in the country I think, but unfortunately Im not able to post your details in a general chat area.

LooneyTunes, good idea ! The police said they do the rounds of the likely places it could end up but I'll pop in a few of the local ones myself just in case.
BTW, may be obvious but make things easy for the shops to keep their eyes peeled and take them something they can keep for future reference:o Include all the details (model, serial # etc);
o Ideally along with a pic of the same model if you can find one;
o Highlight the unique visual differences between pic and your watch;
o Consider a reward?
o Don't forget your contact details!

How embarrassing...........
............... Just had a call from my mother to say she has found Dads watch along with a couple of other small things she thought had been lifted.
They were in a box which she had placed in a spare bedroom though she maintains she has no recollection of putting them there.
We're delighted to have found the watch again but I do feel embarrassed to have stirred up on here and any other forum it may have been posted on. Please accept my apologies and thanks guys for your help.

Must be a thing about Omegas that belong to Dads.
I thought I'd lost my Dad's 1956 Seamaster, but it turned up at the friend's house I thought it was at. We'd moved it somewhere safe, then forgotten where that was.
The watch was AWOL for about three years and I'd resigned myself to its loss, then it turned up when friends were decorating. I wad just made up to get it back.
