Car manufacturers over-egging the pudding

Is it just me or are Ford making a huge deal about not much at all i.e. a hinged flap with a spring behind it. And, while on the subject, how cheap and nasty does the emergency funnel look? Surely and extra Euro per car wouldn't've killed the company.

Does anyone else have any example of car manufacturers making a big deal about nothing at all? I know this is not that uncommon, but I'm buggered if I can think of one just now.

People need to be told about that, I've had to explain it to customers who've brought the car back complaining that there is no fuel cap.

Isn't part of the reason for this that they've also incorporated a system to stop you mis-fueling the car?

Theyve been like that ages now, thanksfully our salesmen show customers what to do otherwise we would have a lot of people coming back.

It's crap anyway. Have it on the Mondeo - instant vapour lock switching the pump off...and again...and again....and again until eventually it fills. It's a right p*sser!

This is one of those innovations which I like but is so bloody boring it wouldn't affect my car buying decision one way or another.

On the Fiesta it holds the pump in the perfect position so that it only shuts off when the tank is full, I find it pretty useful. On my old car the pump would shut off all the time because of splashback and it was annoying trying to get the pump in the right position to fill up.

My 1997 JDM Micra has one of these. Good one Ford, it's not a new technology.

I actually test drove a Taurus and this was one of the main things the salesman emphasized. Really sad.

As far as the video, I've never had gas on my hands from opening or closing the cap. How stupid must these people be?

The kind of person who sprays petrol on their hands won't wait 5 seconds to remove the nozzle and will spill it down their car.

funny enough it works, and doesn't smell of petrol, I had a hire Ford Fusion last month.
