Watched our 1st 3D film today (Sanctum), and TBH the ghosting was absolutely TERRIBLE...

Whenever there was some 'depth' to the 3D effect, it was almost unwatchable...

Is this common? I know we don't have the most expensive 3D telly, (Sony KDL40EX723), but if this is as good as it gets, then I'll be getting a refund on our 3D glasses and just use the telly as 2D, as the picture was so bad frown

Could it be down to the fact that I only had a 1.3 spec HDMI lead to hand? I understand a 1.4 version is needed for 3D?

Are there any settings on the TV or PS3 that need to be changed to reduce/remove this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Its very common on LCD 3D TV's, its caused by the glasses switching before the frame has swapped completely, it is normally worse at colder temps as LCD reaction times slow down quite alot. Plasmas dont do it...well decent ones anyway.
1.3 is what is needed for 3D, 1.4 is the same but with the addition of an ethernet channel.

Are your glasses having sync problems? Any strong UV sources (energy saving bulbs) in the room or direct sunlight?

My 3D TV is a plasma, so the refresh rate is much better than an LCD and even that ghosts sometimes.

Thanks for the feedback...

The TV had been on for a couple of hours before we switched to 3D so should have been more than up to temperature...

Quite frankly, if this is as good as it gets for our telly, I feel SERIOUSLY short changed, as I wouldn't bother watching another 3D film it was that bad. Completely ruined the film.

I'm surprised Sony have released something this poor, it really is utter pants.... I'm still hoping there's some settings I can tweak to at least reduce this effect, as I'll be absolutely staggered that someone at Sony has watched the same thing as me, and thought it was good enough for sale. If the have, they need shooting frown

It was night time and all lights were off, so neither of those things would have affected it...

Both pairs of glasses were fully charged too!
