Rear quarterlights
Discussion
Right, we have finally traced the strangely high wind noise in our T350c to the drivers side rear quarterlight. It doesnt seem to be as well sealed as the passenger side, which is silent. It's sort of free at the bottom edge? I guess it needs removing to re-seal??
Is this doable ourselves? (resealing) or a job for str8six or similar?? Any guides?
Thanks in advance,
BCA

Yes,Had both rear windows replaced when i picked up my Sag, as they had started to go milky around the black painted surrounds. Despite having the job done at a top bodywork shop, I have had to have them re-sealed three times, as they keep comming out, literally. It is a bit disconcerting when you are travelling along, check your side morrow, only to see a window flapping in the breeze
The last time i had them done, they used a new type of sealant that is suppose to be a lot more flexible when set. So far, they seem to be ok (I am now crossing every finger/toe/hair and anything that is crossable
)
I did notice the other day, that the black paint it starting to detatch again very slightly, but i am definately considering getting the black surround covered over with some vinyl wrap stuff. There is no way that i will be taking the windows out EVER again.
With Hindsight, i would have just covered the black surround with some vinyl to start with, as the bodyshop did say to me that the original where stuck in rock solid, and they had to smash them out.
They put the problem down to the body flexing, as they don`t actually fix to anything solid.
I must admit i am a bit paranoid about the bloody things, everytime i go to the car, i find my eyes wandering to check that they are still in ok, and a quick press on them to see all is well.
In fact, i think i will just pop in the garage to check them

As a lot of the problems seem to come from after originals have been removed would it be worth trying to fill the gap with sealant only, if it doesnt stop the noise all you will have lost is the cost of a can of tiger seal or similar and a bit of your own time.
The gap is right at the far end of the window (towards the back, at the bottom) - it is going to Str8six for suspension trickery shortly, but if they cant do it in time (its only going in briefly) - then we'll give it a go.As a lot of the problems seem to come from after originals have been removed would it be worth trying to fill the gap with sealant only, if it doesnt stop the noise all you will have lost is the cost of a can of tiger seal or similar and a bit of your own time.
Thanks guys/girls?
