High-pressure fuel pump NVH
Discussion
Hi,
I still haven't solved the hot-start problem on my Bowler but have a work-around at the moment. Another thing I would like to cure is the noise from the high-pressure pump as at the moment it is quite noticeable up to 30mph (after that road and wind noise takes over). I think that the main problem is that the pump is mounted to the passenger foot well which, combined with the air box which is also bolted to the foot well, acts as a resonating chamber. The pump is flexibly mounted with fabric-reinforced rubber strip between the bracket and foot well and also on the panel side of the retaining nut/washer combination but I guess that this is too stiff.
Would I hear an improvement if I welded a bracket to the foot well frame or am I better off using a more flexible mounting arrangement?
cheers
