Car registered as wrong engine size.

Afternoon PH.

Im currently looking at a car (Mk3 Cortina if anyone is interested!), it started life out as a 1300 but had a 1600 installed overtime. It is still on the logbook as a 1300 () but if I were to purchase it, I would want to get it changed so the correct info is displayed on the log book.

My question is, how would I go about doing this and is it a straight forward process or is it complicated?

I think you fill out a form and send it off. No inspections or anything. Happy to be corrected.

You used to be able to ammend the details on the V5 and send it back, engine size and new serial number.
However, I've not heard people having to send a receipt or proof of purchase for the engine (DVLA not living in the real world as usual) or getting a garage to send an inspection report to confirm the engine size etc.

First, when you buy the car, just alter the engine number and CC and see if that works.

You need a letter from the garage that fitted it stating the exact CC or a recipt for the engine, publisher is your friend here
If you send a letter with the V5 (and IF it is) saying it's roadfund exempt you may get it changed without it though, it's cos of the differing roadfund levels for modern cars and most people don't know the exact cc of an engine.
