Had a nightmare of a weekend, which resulted in me having to abandon my car in Germany and flying back. It's bitten the dust, undriveable, and we parked it up in a resedential area.

I left the plates on the vehicle as the registration is etched on every window and with there being plenty of kids about, didn't really feel like smashing every window in.....

Does anyone have any idea of the consequences of doing this / re; German authorities, DVLA here etc or any action I should take.....?

Many thanks in advance......

If you've dumped it for good, you'd better think twice. The German greenslime have pushed through legislation that makes it a crime and an ecological one at that. Get it recovered or give it to someone (with paperwork), DON'T just leave it, the local BiB WILL be actioning it as soon as they hear about it from the local council...and don't forget there is an EU arrest warrant!!!! They BiB would contact DVLA through the bureaucratic pipeline and it could mean a VERY hefty fine AND expenses and/or imprisonment!!!!

Could you arrange for a local scrappy to go and collect it? Might cost you a few euros but save no end of grief.

If it's possible but going to be slow because of bureaucracy (In Germany? Never!) then telling the local BiB what's going on might be a good option.

Does Germany allow scrappies?

Thought about the 'it was nicked' idea....

How would the UK police react - plus I can see the german feds catching up with me eventually......?

Cheers

What kind of car is it ? Is their a german owners club? Contact the top man and offer it free to a good home.

I say this cause I'm a member of the mk2 cavalier owners network and we have a few associate members in Europe with their ascona C's (same car see).

A local german scrapyard will not touch a foreign registered car, as they can't recycle it...only cars that are german greenslime approved may be recycled....you MAY be in deep doodoo... so arrange to get it given (as suggested elsewhere) or ask the local firemen whether they need a car for accident training, this is how i got rid of another PHers car in D........
