Things are looking good for DTEC.

New drivers in all classes , 3 Tuscans i know of returning to the circuit, hopefully the Sagari/Cerb and Invitaion cars making more appearances, the regulars keeping the faith and ex Tuscan Challenge drivers coming back.

All bodes well for the Championship , which despite falling grids in many race series looks to be bucking the trend.

You drivers who stuck with it through thick and thin humble me frankly , i've spent the last few years doing my own thing when really, as a died in the wool TVR man i should have been out racing with you guys.

Respect is due to John Reid, who - behind the scences - has done a lot of work and personally spent more than a few quid ! to keep TVR racing alive since the demise of the TVR Tuscan Challenge.

And without wishing to come across like Halle Berry at the Oscars, i think Geoff, Mal and the Team are pretty bloody excellent, - those of us that have raced with other Series will appreciate this.

Donington was an excellent meeting (and probably shouldn't admit this to fellow drivers ) but at the 30 sec board i just sat there smiling - really happy to be part of such a rich and varied grid of TVR race cars and a paddock of top notch people.

And kudos to Andy R - who took it in the spirit of the consumate Gentleman racing driver -when i inadvertently punted him off in the first race.

Anyway, moving on, who's out at Rockingham biggrin..

My dear chap, regardless of who's out at Rockingham, I reckon you should take your shorts and hat, and if you really want to smile after 30seconds, stand at the corner of Sackville and Canal for 30 seconds. You'll be eaten alive biggrin

Its a priveledge to be part of it frankly.

Been watching for years, before i could even afford a TVR.

Fantastic racing, wonderful, friendly paddock "...everything else is just waiting".

Just watched the Racemaxx coverage of BHI on MotorsTV. Series looked terriffic. Big and varied grid. Many excellent over takes caught in the close racing. Well done JR (who paid for it)

Andy
(btw Dazz, the first one gets a smile and a joke, the second gets a smakinthemowf) biggrin

I was a good if knackering meeting. I still wasnt sure we'd make it untill I lined up for qualifying.. the cars been sat under a cover for 12 months and until the sunday before the race the race the motor was still in bits..

A trip with the car over to jamies workshop on saw the engine back together and dropped in the car. by the sunday night.

The car fired up and moved for the first time on weds night after sourcing a new oil pump belt as the original had a small stone stuck in it !!!! and then a hours running on the dyno on thursday to make sure everything looked ship shape.

After picking up things like the bonnet ( stored at pops) I arrived at donny ay 3am, and grabbed an hour or so kip in hte truck before the planes started up at 4am...

It was then a question of throwing some dampers on the car, together with the bonnet, wiring up the alternator and solving an issue with collapsing water hoses..

Qually was a case of making sure everything felt ok, and remembering how to drive, oh yes and pressing th throttle all the way helps...

Race 1 was good fun, some very close racing between the Rv8 Tuscans with dave waiting to pounce on any mistake in the griff.

The car had a good check over after the race as i was getting a bit of drive line shunt but all seemed ok.

never mind smiling waiting for the green flag, on race 2 I almost fell asleep on the grid !!!! the adrenalin not kicking in till the start..

a distracting oil pressure alarm on the dash would see me drop back a little and then pit, only to rejoin and then as a precaution park it up at the hairpin. after a slightly un nerving noise, that looks now to be either wheel bearing or diff, and the oil pressure alarm a connection on the sensor... grrr but better safe than sorry.

Still a great weekend that was worth the effort and despite the dnf in race 2 still a good result overall.

not sure about rock yet, but Oulton should be a definite
Cheers G

What a great days racing at Donny biggrin The piss poor paddock location was more than offset by the quality of the track, which I, like many others had never been too before, let alone driven. It was great to see a really good turnout of cars for Tom’s memorial and credit to all that made the effort. clap I’d certainly be up for a return to the circuit which made for some great driving, very close competition (particularly amongst the B cars wink ) & was great to watch too; I’m told from those on the hill by Craner. The weather was kind to us as well! All in all - it’s exactly the reason why I sold my TVR road car 2 years ago, so I could properly realise one of my life’s ambitions . . . I can think of no better (legal) adrenaline rush! biggrinclapclap Really looking forward to seeing more in-car footage ( . . . and to the Rock next month!) biggrin

Yes it was a fantastic day! Thankyou all so much for making the effort to race, especially on a work day! Great to see so many cars out - I'm told the racing was excellent throughout the pack! Glad I got the car on the pace, just need to work on lap 1 now haha! Hope dad looked down with a smile at the racing, and the weather certainly helped!

Not racing at Rock (might be there to watch) but deffo out at Oulton - see you all there! Hopefully another nice big grid to round the year off too!

God I can't wait to get out either. Just been looking through the various photos and videos of Donny and it it looks like a corker of a race weekend. Unfortunately my job has been changing a bit lately and I was sent abroad so couldn't make Donny and had to give up a couple of weekends I'd allocated for working on the Tuscan. That said, progress is being made; just too many projects on the go at the moment and not enough time/money as I'd like to put into the Tuscan and get it on track. Hopefully I'll be able to cross some big items of my Tuscan to do list in the next month though smile

Sadly without me for a couple of reasons, my timescales on rebuilding the car have slipped for one reason and another meaning its looking like Oulton qually would be the first time the car would be out on track, and secondly our other commitments to the series would suffer if the car was out at Oulton...
...looking forward to 2012 though.

Looks like 2012 for me to. Still going to Spain every 3 to 4 weeks till my Dad is settled and the legal stuff is sorted. Me & Marion might be able to get to Rockingham and help/watch if a couple of tickets are available.

Pete.

Thanks for all the support and condolences.
