I bought the Panasonic TX-P50G20 at the end of April, after reading the thread on here. It was the last one in the shop (PC World) and was ex-display.

The picture is stunning; however, after a couple of days I noticed three parallel horizontal lines, about six inches long and two inches deep, at the bottom left of the screen. They are green in colour, and only show up with certain backgrounds.

I had a Panasonic service centre look at it and they confirmed screen burn. Panasonic's warranty doesn't cover screen burn, but PC World agreed that the damage must have occurred whilst the TV was on display, and that they would collect it and fix it. I now have it back, but the lines are still there. I don't know what PC World actually did to it to rectify the problem, but it didn't work!

I get the impression from talking to Panasonic that the only fix is a new panel, which has a trade price of about £650.

I am about to contact PC World again. Ideally, I would like a replacement TV of the same model, but there do not appear to be any about.

My dilemma is:-

Should I let them try again to fix it?

Should I demand a new TV? If so, what model of Panasonic is the closest replacement?

Should I get my money back and try elsewhere?

None of the above!

Any comments/advice greatly appreciated.

Richard

Advice? Yes, learn how to use Google to clue yourself up the Sale of Goods Act, and that your contract is with the seller, not the bloody manufacturer.

Did PC World re-gas it? biggrin

Money back, I wouldn't even think about anything else - PC world will just mess you about until it's that old they are not obliged to give you a refund, and then you're stuck with it.

Bookmark away, I don't think what's been described is screenburn since it's claimed to be green in colour.
That's not how screenburn typically manifests itself.
Then again, it's accepted as general wisdom to run the screen in for the first 100-200 hours in Cinema/Movie mode, with contrast & brightness reduced.
This gives the panel's cells time to stabilise, before ramping up the contrast & brightness.
