Quite common old chap!

The bodyshell sits on a few bits of rubber sheet at half a dozen points; after more years than John Gaswedge can remember (hehe) the rubber gets a bit manky, the bolts get a bit loose, the whole thing flexes like a Russian gymnast and hey presto, instant lean.
Best way to see it is to lie down and look along the car from the rear: if the wishbones have the same angle relative to the chassis, then the chassis is square and the bodyshell isn't. Ideally you should be able to draw a more-or-less flat line from one wheel, across the wishbones to the other wheel.
My S1 Tasmin and '83 Esprit had exactly the same issue - chassis was fine but the shell had moved.

I use bits of old car tyre cut up for more packing - works a treat.

I once also saw in the boot area some cracking of the fibreglass under the boot at the mount point, so it sagged down even more, I glassed in some reinforcement then added more packing. It's out of sight so doesn't need a pretty finish, ideal job if it's your first time fiber glassing.

The thought never entered my mind ya fat bastid, the reason Sandy's asking is that the rubber pad that the springs sit on, they are different size's [thickness] for each side, we were told that by the man that built Sandy's car, met him at BNG blackpool.
He say's that all chassis twist slightly, the parts that are bolted down with rubber washers check them as well, some of mine were cracked all the way through.

Sometimes the rubber front spring insulators/locators are missing on one or both sides.
They are from Cortina MK3-5.

The Cortinas also used them at the rear, and (from memory) they may well fit the TVR front too.

I was in Selby TVR specialists last week, and the owner, who's been involved with TVR main dealerships since the time of Wedge production remarked that he was always jokingly asking the factory if they'd ever be supplying a Wedge which sat level on the chassis. lol! biggrin

I had this, has your car always been like it or has it developed over time?

Not 100% sure Martin just noticed it while checking the steering boot. Although I'm pretty sure I would have noticed it before now if it has always been like that, but can't say for sure.

Can I add that the hand cut piece of rubber under the springs at the rear of the car evolved into a hard plastic packer spacer that I used to purchase for customer cars from the factory to replace the rubber as it exuded out from it's position and was left on the road as the cars were driven.
It was common that a car would look correct one day and wrong the next.

I'll have a good look at the o/s spring and shock to see if there is anything. Unusual or damaged down there. Or am I looking in the wrong place to start with?
