Dear all,

Are the bushes on the front control arms replaceable on the E90?....or do you have to replace the whole arm?

Anybody had this done and have an idea of cost for parts and fitting?

Thanks

The front control arm comes with the bush fitted, approx £60 from a factor. The bushes have to be fitted at the correct rotation as well, easier to fit the whole thing as the balljoint won't be far behind.

Thanks roofer, does the arm come with the ball joint on?

Excuse my ignorance : )

Are there any good diagrams detailing the front suspension setup?

From memory the arm comes with the ball joint. I had a load of stuff done on my E39.

Cheapest place to get them was GSF. These were original parts. The same as the BMW dealer will sell you for about 60 to 70% of the BMW dealer price.

This is a common misconception, but the truth is, they are not exact originals, they will however 'do' the job. Its the same with pads, people think because they are Jurid or Textar, they are OEM, they are not, the compound is different. I have never had an issue with a pattern part for as long as GSF/Euro have been selling them, but they are not identical to OEM.

No they can sell you the same part or a pattern part. I work in the industry so I know what to look for. I checked the suspension bits including the shock absorbers and bushes. They were identical to the factory parts removed from my car. This included all the embossed manufacturers details etc. The arms were Lemforder and identical to the original as were the Boge shock absorbers. My mechanic verified the same.

Additionally, someone posted on here a while back when the subject last came up. The part suppliers to the OEs, now have the right to sell their parts through independent sales channels like GSF providing they don't use the OE's markings. So shocks will come in a Boge box and not a BMW one.

Here's your best option if you want to replace those bushes. Guaranteed for life and overall much better anyway.
