Your families opinion/attitude to cars

Coming from the other thread on your partners opinion, some extended it to family, I thought this was quite interesting.
My wife's family kind of feign some interest and had some nice classic stuff in the past but were largely clueless or not interested, only one of my brother in laws can wield a spanner convincingly, they all now drive german diesel estates. My mother in law always expresses some opinion on my car choices, current Saab is acceptable but she doesn't like being accelerated, low down turbo power is great as you can let the grunt do the work and provide enough acceleration to make her slightly uneasy without too many revs to give the game away, childish but fun. One of my brother in laws rang me to ask where the air filter is on an Astra, his man card has been docked accordingly, I shouldnt be surprised as I borrowed his socket set once and it was extensive and suspiciously clean....
My family are generally petrolheads, my dad has a Fireblade and my uncles have classics, all can spanner to a certain extent (my dad being the expert) but they have a dark secret, a loyalty and fascination with MG Rovers, my dad keeps cars for decades, im 40 and he has only really had three main cars, I get itchy feet after a month !
My kids are sort of interested, youngest watches Top Gear and gets to ride in some nice cars via his school mates parents and gives me a review, other two less so.
The Dog is largely not bothered and will hop in anything but has to be physically lifted into the Fiat 500 (old one) which he hates almost as much as I do, he must pick up on my feelings of impending doom and expense or just the fact it it rattly and noisy.
