Bit of help - Powerflex
Discussion
Hello,
I was hoping for a bit of help with powerflex bushes. I have done some searching but can't really find what I am looking for. I know I need 25.5mm front and 18mm rear anti-roll bar bushes. I have checked realoem and then measured. However, I am not sure which bushes I should order as Powerflex don't list a 25.5mm front full stop for the e36 and only list an 18mm rear for the Compact.
I have a 1998 323 M-tec Touring. So the question is what bushes do I need to order? I have phoned Powerflex and to be honest they were no help. Will the 25mm front fit? Do the bushes have a split or need sliding along the roll bar? I am worried I won't be able to slide it along if the latter. For the rear are the 18mm ones listed for the compact correct for my Touring also?
Sorry if these are really obvious questions. I am off to the lake district shortly and really want to get these fitted and not have to send things back.
Cheers for the help.

I've just been dealing with Phoenix and they're the most delightful and helpful company I've come across for a while - thanks for the recommendation!
I'm going for powerflex RTABs, front & rear ARB bushes and the control arm bushes. Being a bit of a wuss, I'm planning to rent the RTAB removal tool to try and make that a speedy process and I'm buying the control arm bushes already pressed into lollipops.
The only bit of info I'm stuck on is how to remove the centre of the control arm bush from the end of the control arm? Trying to make sure I'm 100% happy with the process before actually sitting down to do the job!
Rear subframe mounts are going to have to wait until I have more cash and a heck of a lot more time
Cheers,
T.

If you heat the old bushes on the rear of the front lower arms, they will come off easily. Either a hairdrier or carefully with a hot air gun. You will be able to install the new bushes in the new lollipops yourself easily, its getting the old ones out of the old lollys thats difficult but with new housings, the job will be very quick and painless.

Superflex do the proper sizes for the e36 stock and also a few more, larger ones for aftermarket ARBs e.g. from Eibach or H&R.I was hoping for a bit of help with powerflex bushes. You will find that the majority of aftermarket rear trailing arm bushes are slotted anyway because owners and garages are too tight to buy or rent the correct tool for the job.
The best solution is to use the proper tool to extract the existing bush without any damage to the trailing arm and then fitting the Powerflex replacements which install without the tool and perform better as well as last longer.
I would say 90% of garages do the cut n bash method to remove those bushes. They just dont care, its quick, cheap, and not their car.
Best way is DIY with Powerflex bushes and rent the proper tool off Flea Bay for £35.00.
