Driving in the rain!!
Discussion
Sorry if this has been run before but still a relative newbie Tuscan owner.
I apparently have a case of "They all do that sir"
Driving in the rain unfortunately yesterday and had two issues.
First one - this is only the second time that I have been caught out in heavy rain and both times had water drips in next to the wing mirror location above the silver trim strip on both door cards. If driving at speed it doesn't drip in suggesting that water enters when it can drop down onto the location rather than be blown into it if you see what I mean. RG have fitted rubber tubes inside the rubber door seal to try and fill out the seal to make a tighter fit but this doesn't work. Will probaly insist that new seals are fitted but have friends that say this hasn't worked either.
Has anyone found a remedy for the doors leaking? They can't all leak surely.
Second one - car stopped - ran out of battery juice. Coming up the M3 outside lane suddenly noticed dash going "hey-wire" then seconds later misfire, no power, no electrics no nothing
Sorry to the MX5 driver that I cut across. Managed to roll into Fleet services. Tried starting the car but battery was showing 10.2 volts but as soon as I tried starting went to less than 9 volts and lots of solenoid clicks.
Luckily enough juice to open doors and boot. Called out the AA and very impressed with speed and depth of service. Between us had the main bonnet off looking for fuse under airbox. If this fuse has gone will you still have power at the alternator? AA man thought he had found a loose connection and remade the ring terminal to alternator but then found no charging output present from alternator so diagnosis is that the alternator has failed. I wasn't far from home so the battery was topped up by AA and he followed me home. All non essential electrics were turned off but initially I noticed that the battery voltage was up at 14.4 volts but as soon as revs dropped to around 2500 the voltage was down at 12v or just below suggesting that it wasn't charging. The question is that I would think that confirms that the unfound fuse under the airbox is ok at least and that the erratic charging maybe the alternator.
Any thoughts appreciated
Neil

Mine leaks through the same part in the doors too.
I recall having a chat with David Batty about it.
He suggested sticking a flap of rubber on the roof itself, on each side so that it covers the area the rain/ water can drip down, he said there in lies the problem.
Not tried it myself yet but would love to know how to fix this leaking problem.
