I'm at the Ring and need a garage - anyone help?
Discussion
Hi,
I'm currently at the Nurburgring having just finished at track.
I'm in desperate need of front brake pads - there's literally nothing left of the old ones.
Can anyone recommend a garage that's local and won't take the p*ss with pricing?
Please stick the address down too, I'm relying on sat nav.
Thanks.

I've booked in at the garage you mentioned. Thanks for the recommendation. I'd have preferred a decent race pad, but they can only supply standard if I want it doing tomorrow - which I do.
They had 80% wear left on them 5 days before I left. I had them checked at the same time the rear pads, discs, front tyres, clutch and brake fluid were changed last Thursday.
I've covered 300 miles on the track today and I've been pushing it. Though I'd hoped the pads would see me home so I could get them swapped.
Thanks anyhow.

I did 50 laps on a long weekend (1 evening & 2 days) when I was there last month and only used about 1mm of my Yellowstuffs on the Z4MC (which is 1500kg), so you must be the last of the late brakers or there's something wrong with your brakes.
Remember to always carry spare pads, plugs, oil, fuel filter, toolkit, etc. etc. etc.

It was great fun, thanks. Extremely lucky with the weather and closures were minimal.
I do brake pretty late and often keep them applied a fair amount into the corner so as not to rely on tyre grip alone.
I think I did around 25 laps, starting at 0800 with the sighting laps, right through to me being the last one off the track around 1630. I didn't even have a warm dinner because I wanted as much track time as possible - though I did have a Red Bull and some sort of cold pig dick in a bun called a 'Maxi XXL'.
Cheers.

Maybe too late now, but there is a guy in Nurburg who sells performance brake pads. Drive through the village, from the ring and there is a little shop on the left. I think its near the turning down to the PK. A sign on the dorr with a phone number if its closed. I`d try him first thing in the morning if I were you.
Also, try RSR or Rent4Ring, they both have english people working there who may be able to offer other suggestions.
Nige.

Thanks for your help guys.
I did see the little shop you mentioned, but it was too late then.
I got the pads done at 0830 today. They fitted Ferrodo pads according to the invoice, which I didn't expect. They didn't seem like rip off merchants so I trust that's what's fitted.
105 quid for the pads and the labour. I'm happy enough with that.
Cheers.

Did you go to Auto Lieder in the end?
Parts aren't easy to source at the Ring but they got wheel bearings for my 924 overnight and fitted the next morning. €200 all in if I remember.
Great guys.
Yes, I rang them at 1800 and they told me the parts would arrive overnight and to come in for fitting at 0830.Parts aren't easy to source at the Ring but they got wheel bearings for my 924 overnight and fitted the next morning. €200 all in if I remember.

Great service and they didn't take the p*ss on the labour cost.
