using indoor speakers outside
Discussion
I'm not too sure but for me the questions would be whether you can guarantee no water ingress from above (I suppose you could cover them in plastic sheeting so even if water penetrated from above it would roll off and down), and will the drivers be adversely affected by humidity. In theory the drivers in my room should be at a not too dissimilar humidity from outside as my window is almost always open, especially on a humid day so they could be ok.
The other consideration is will water or foreign objects get in from underneath, I'd imagine if there's sufficient overhang around the speaker you should be ok.
As has been said though, outdoor speakers are available and you're never going to have amazing sound quality outside anyway so would it not be worth just considering outdoors? Have you considered what the off-axis performance of the tweeters is going to be like? Is it for a dedicated listening position or just to have music outside?

Unless you live in Arizona or the moon, it is considerably more humid outside. Even if protected from above, I would not put these speakers outside unless I expected them to break down in some way at some point in time (probably after a couple of winters).Gassing Station | Home Cinema & Hi-Fi | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
