Discussion
hi guys i live in malaysia and own a very rare chimaera 400 year 2001.here only 10 units.i own 2 ahahah TVR lover here.anyway here we dont have much tuning options.so i managed to find a 4.6 HSE.was wondering what it ll take to make it around 280hp and to swap it in my chimaera.???tks for ur help
Unless I'm mistaken I always thought the Range Rover engines had a cam in, and were tuned for, low end torque and grunt rather than top end shove?
So if you're wanting to literally drop it in with light fettling, probably not perfect for the application.
That said, parts for them are readily available, depending on how much you wanted to spend, you could do a full rebuild on the engine to whatever spec you like I'd imagine?

Do you have an orange Chim?
I was sent a pic of an orange one in KL by my brother who lives out there.

Speak to Rowland at ACR... a fountain of knowledge and does a lot of engines for Offroad racers....my last engine off him was a 4.8ltr V8 which was 300 bhp and 300 lb of torque.

It will be VERY easy. The blocks are the same and the TVR already has a light car fast road chip and cam, along with a fast car upper end. Just swap the cams from the original engine into the 4.6 and use the original Chimaera upper end with the 4.6 block. If my memory is correct, John Ravenscroft did the TVR programming back then.
