How to find a previously owned car.

Was just wondering if you can do a number plate search to find a previously owned car? Or what websites can do this? mk2 golf gti 8v J299 LNH

DVLA vehicle checker or even better go on eBay start to list the car for sale. Go to advanced sale and put the number plate in. It will tell you everything.

You'd need to write a letter to the DVLA and make a "Freedom of Information" request. 50-50 you'll get a positive outcome. Chances are if the car was tidy then it would either be in a lock up somewhere waiting to become a "classic" or a VW enfusiast has either kept it for spares or is working on it. You can phone the DVLA and ask if the car has been recorded as scrapped or exported so long as it doesn't breach privacy then you're fine.

If the car is registered to the VW owners club someone may know where it is now.
