Ultegra Wheelset - broken spoke

Bah.

Was getting bike ready for ride to work tomorrow and discovered that a spoke has 'disappeared' on my rear wheel

And it's the awkward nipple on the hub and not the rim jobby as well so no doubt there will be some sort of faf in getting it fixed.

Anyone else experienced this with this wheelset? I've had them 15 months and they have just under 2000 miles on them.

A wee bit annoying especially as they have stayed true throughout.

LBS contacted them today and new stock of spokes not expected until mid August at earliest.

Thanks a million for being so st as to not stock up on supplies before the season.

Yep, fk Shimano tbh. My XT rear hub started going last year, could I get a replacement axle? Could I fk. The result is that now the hub is completely fked.

I buy Hope/Chris King now, nobody else.

Ordinarily I'd use it as an excuse to upgrade but even I'd struggle to justify an upgrade from Ultegra.

Going to have to ring round a LOT of workshops tomorrow to see if there are any spare spokes floating around.

Doesn't help you but I normally keep 4 or 5 spares spokes for my wheels (front and rear) in case of this, replacement spokes for factory wheels are notoriously hard to get hold of at times.

If you can get the existing spoke length measured precisely enough, a bog standard DT spoke will suffice in the meantime.

That's my plan this time, buy everal so I at least have some sort of spare capacity.

Absolutely gutted as I've finally got a decent run of spare time to get some miles in.

Make sure you buy for both front and rear as the spokes will be different lengths (longer at rear due to wider hub flange spacing)

I've got these too (not on ultegra wheels mind). Utter bd to adjust drive-side tension. Sympathies.
