Was the 'S' a lightweight???
Discussion
I've got an 'S' bodyshell and managed to pick it up with the help of a buddy and move it around the workshop. I've just tonight lifted the bodyshell (front wing torn off in accident) with doors and boot lid attached, and it had to be 100kgs more. We tried lifting one end whilst the other was suspended by an engine crane and it was barely achievable. To be honest it felt as heavy as the chim body I removed on my last car, and that took 8 people to remove.
So I'm assuming the 'S' was a lighter shell with a different construction? Anybody know for sure??
Cheers,
Martin

The fibreglass matting (with micro pores IIRC) used on the Mk2 is definitely lighter than that used on a Chim, although I think lot depends on the quantity of resin used..Speak to John Mleczek, he made the doors for years. Mayalsian Chim bodies are definitely heavier than Blackpool ones, and a better finish
