The runaround is 10 years old and has just hit 80,000 miles. I'm going to have the timing belt changed. As far as I know it'll be the first time the cars had it changed. I've had the car from around 35k miles. The other month I changed the auxiliary belt, the belt that drives the pumps and alternator.

I know there's a timing belt kit, so to speak. As it's just a belt and tensioner. But what else would you have changed at the same time? Plus what should I be looking to pay for everything you recommend I have replaced?

After changing discs, pads, shoes, auxiliary belt, cleaning the Throttle Body and flushing the brakes, I'm tempted to give it a go myself. But am unsure as to how big a step it is on from the above. Or the coast of tools I'll probably need above and beyond the usual suspects found in most people's garages.

I've had a small leak behind the power steering for a little while and have been told that the washer behind it has been known to leak. So that will need changing too. But if I attempt it myself I've been told I'll need a specific tool to extract the power steering unit, just to get at the washer.

So, what else would you have changed?

And, do I DIY or with the cost of added tools go Garage and pay for piece of mind? Plus getting the washer behind the power steering changed. If it does need a specific tool to extract the PS unit.
