I'm wanting to get a set of Borrani wire wheels refurbished, 4 have been roughly painted with a silver rattle-can and the spare is just very tired. How much would it cost to have them stripped and rebuilt with new spokes and get the rim polished.

So, how much and any recommendations?

Cheers

Typically around £500 to £750 per wheel.
We use an excellent company in Cardiff whose details I don't have to hand, but I'll post them laterthumbup

yikes that's nearly £2k for the set... may have a short-term re think on that. They do look amazing when they're clean but that may just break the budget at the moment.

Many thanks for getting back.

as a thought (I am assuming this is for the Maser) why not give Turrino a ring for a comparative quote? When I built the C-type they were much cheaper than Borrani - about the same for new wheels as the cost of refurbishment quoted above. Beyond the budget at the moment perhaps, but long term maybe feasable. I checked out MWS, but they only sell Borranis in your size.

It would obviously depend on whether they need repairs/renewals other than the spokes. MWS will give you a quote. I would stick with the originals rather than change. Are the splines okay, do the spinners need renewing etc....

If you are working on such a tight budget I would certainly think long and hard before going any further. These are very expensive cars to restore.

It's not the cost, it's the value. The splines, spinners, and rims are all in perfectly functional condition and there are no damaged spokes, it's just an aesthetic improvement I was looking for. I'm not afraid of spending money on the car as part of the recommisioning so please don't assume that I'm working to an unrealistic budget

I'll give MWS a try.

My set of 5 wheels cost 2300 pounds for a complete refurbishing (new spokes / rim polished) in Italy via Longstone Tyres. Delay : approx 8 weeks. Very happy with the result.

I can vouch for Paul on this front....money is not the issue...he saves a fortune by not going to the bar on a regular basis....

As well as both options already mentioned (I've seen work from both and they are excellent)there is also wirewheels.co.uk in Peterborough, who work to an equally good standard

Sorry for the delay...........yes - as above Richards Brothers in Cardiff tel 02920 229945.
I can HIGHLY recommend their work, they've done a lot of 250/365 Borranis for us over the years including outside laced T/R wheels.
I know it seems a helluva lot, but their work is spectacular & one gets what one pays forthumbup
Hope this helps?
Al.
