Yes, I regret it, but it seemed like a good idea at the time!....where is it now?

R487 XEG Deep Purple, Red Leather August 1997 Elise with Red suede steering wheel.

If anyone can help it will be much appreciated.

Thanks

So is buying your old one back the only way you can get permission for another Lotus from 'er indoors?

Just seen this (very) old post. I'm pleased to say that I've got your old Elise! I bought it from the dealer in Cambridge late '98, when there was still a waiting list for new ones. For a while it was my daily till I moved to USA for 3 years and my summer car when I got back. Unfortunately it suffered a minor prang and was off the road for the last 9 years but now undergoing a refurb, with some well overdue upgrades (radiator, cooling, fuel tank). Hoping to get it back mid-May so I can get some GRP repairs done and get back to using it in the summer. And before you ask, it's not for sale 😁

Amazing, how did you come across a thread from 2014?

Out of curiosity I put the registration into Google and this Pistonheads thread came up. I'd be keen to see if MarkJF still accesses the site so I can bring him up to date.

Hi Phixer,
Wow, just came across this post - Markjf here! Markie Fults now as that last username has long gone!
Yes it was my car and really pleased to hear it is back on the road. I have looked over the years occasionally at the MOT checker to see if it is on the road. really pleased you still have it. Please get in touch as it would be great to give you the low down of how I bought it.
S2 111R now are you still local to Cambridge?

Fantastic to actually get in touch, thank you for replying. First off, it's not for sale! I've finally got it up and running again after the refurbishment dragged on and while there's still lots of work to do I've been having fun driving it again. It still gets the attention with the great purple colour and the striking red interior. I'm even going to a couple of car shows over the next 2 weekends, one locally in Shalbourne and a bigger event on 3 Sep at the Shere Hill Climb near Guilford.
I'm no longer in Cambridge, now living in Wiltshire, near Marlborough. Look forward to hearing how you bought it. If you're happy adding your email I can send some current pics.
