Thanks to everyone who contributed,I think I am in business again with a tickover of 900 rpm and a better smell at the back end!
Only a slight fluctuation up to 1100 after reving then drops back.So it was the potentiometer(Throttle pot)then, which I changed for the third time to another model I found fitted to a Sierra 2.9 at a different breakers.Frustrated,Poor...but Happy!
Thanks again to all for the ideas and advice and I will be a more regular visitor in future.
Fingers crossed and back to testing tonight!
