Separate or together?

The time has come to change car. Whilst deciding where to advertise / how much to ask I had a thought and was wondering what the opinions of my fellow PHer's might be.
My current car is a Jeep Grand Cherokee and when I bought it, included in the sale was the "Jeep" registration (J33 P**). The price that I paid for the car was a fair reflection of the car according to similar cars advertised at the time regardless of the number plate. Similar registrations are for sale on certain websites for anywhere between £745 and £2,445. Assuming my plate is somewhere in the middle of these prices then that values the plate at pretty much the same as I paid for the car!
My thought was that if I put the "Jeep" plate on retention and revert the car to it's original registration (assuming that it's still available, I have the original change over docs from DVLA) then I could sell the plate and car separately and potentially have a bigger pot to buy the next car from.
So what are your thoughts? Is it worth the extra work or is it too much bother?

OK, I'll be the first to say it doesn't say Jeep except maybe to a semi-sighted sloth prepared to mis-space it and squint in the dark. 
I'd sell it with the car as I doubt it's actually worth anything save a theoretical price in an advert. It's £85 to put it on retention and you may never sell it. I'm not sure Jeep types are the sort who have much time for personal plates.

I've just tried putting the number plate into the website to see what they'd pay for it, £400! True that Jeep types may not be interested but the kind who own a Jeep and never use it off the tarmac might?There's a shocker...
The lesson to learn from any registration dealer is they will pluck a figure from the air as a value and will effectively advertise other people's property in a mad fishing exercise and if by some ridiculous stroke of luck someone buys it, they'll take a cut. It's like running a business without any stock and no better than AutoTrader as far as values are concerned.
The good part is that someone may buy your Jeep for a smidge more or be persuaded to buy your car over another Jeep, all things being equal, because it has that plate on it.

I'd leave the plate on and forget it. If it does happen to make the car more desirable to someone then happy days.
