Hi i was changing out my Pads as i have my first track day in a couple of days but on inspection of the discs i am unsure if i should use these discs. My issue is i don't have the time or funds this month to fork out £324 for a new set will they be ok or not a clever idea to run them.

Cheers Scott.

I would be inclined not to those cracks look more than just surface glazing.

Sorry.

As i was thinking any idea if i can pick up a cheap set from a factors that will fit a cerb? I know some jap cars have the same PCD I measured the discs 290mm x 26mm thick anything elese that runs these discs?

Not sure I would want to go cheap, not all discs are the same. On one of my previous Range Rovers a local garage fitted new discs, not OEM ones, they warped with in a week and had cracks all over them.

On a track day your brakes will get seriously hot, I mean really hot. I was at one on Sunday and the cracking and creeking noises from the discs as they cool back down again is frightening. I do not think that cheap ones are a good use of your money, they may well cause you to through the car into a wall or something, just not worth it.

I may be wrong.

Are they really £324 a set? That seems quite a bit for fairly standard ford discs

edited to add - just realised they are for a Cerb so may not be Ford discs

You should try my Tuscan's drilled rotors, for some reason a rotor that reuses an alloy bell costs a whole heap more than one with the bell built in. Come to think of it don't some cerbs and tuscans use the same discs? All 4 of mine are drilled, but the cerb discs above aren't?

Try good quality aftermarket discs.

My existing 330mm Brembo's from a motor factor cost about £160.00 the pair and the previous same size by EBC were even cheaper!

The EBC's did about 15-18 T/D's!

Not for a cerb but you get the idea.

Could not get Hold of any one in the store at power this afternoon but Racing green had a pair of these that they managed to send out at the last minute.

Cheers Guys

Just really glad i did spot this as my MOT is not due for some time and the car has only done 1000 miles since the last MOT when i got it, And i have never really gave the brakes any abuse as it's all been very light road use.

Just bit the bullet as i really still want to do my track day.

I am sure some cerbs run the 320mm discs guess it's not that hard to upgrade as the calpiers are the same, But not for a while as i have just forked out on these new disc's and even the old ones had very good stopping power even in the state they are in.

I take it that was for your Griff?

Or was that for a Cerbera? There is a massive difference price wise between chims/griffs and the Cerbs and the Cerb has a 5 stud pattern as well

Even without the cracks, they look very thin. Really need to check what the minimum permitted thickness is - sometimes cast or etched on the edge or inside the disc if you don't have the spec elsewhere.

Even on something as old as my Wedge with Princess 4 pots, the separate rotors (i.e. not including bells) are £350+ a pair.

Not all Cerbera calipers are the same..

The smaller disc ones ie, yours, run a 4 bolt caliper, the 4.5 larger disc ones run 6 bolt caliper(same pad), 2000> (ish) run the T350/Tuscan/Saggy Caliper.(diff pad)

I import and sell brake pads, so can bore you to death! wink
