Has anyone got any links to useful data on how much UK Ltd takes from Wales in terms of taxes vs how much Wales gets in terms of budgets.

Thanks.

The answer must surely be frightening indeed. I'm only glad the overall numbers will be low because of the low population.

According to the 2011 Budget, Wales will receive £13.3bn in 2011-12.

I don't have the tax contribution figures though.

Table 7 suggests Wales receive £9 billion more in expenditure than they pay in taxes.

Something I too would love to know. However someone has already submitted a Freedom of Information request for this, see http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/amount_of_ta...

Apparently HM Treasury do not have this information!!!! Shocking IF true!

Sorry but that's current position all through the 50/60/70/80 & even early 90's it was the other way net tax outflow so don't you dare suggest that Wales should have a cut it should be the other principalities of the UK that need a cut to counter the decades of net taking from Wales.

Citation needed.

Also, given our population its probably worth comparing Wales with similar sized conurbations with high unemployment - I'm thinking somewhere northern wink

Lets be honest though, the imbeciles in the 'Assembly' spend a worrying portion of our cash on meritless projects. If Wales ever gets independence, I'm moving to England.

Students are happy though I would have thought. Mind you, several billion over a few years will be handy in a few places like the hospitals and other essential services.

This. Don't get me wrong i'm happy not paying any prescription charges or for hospital parking but some of the barmy projects they come up with is beyond belief

Ah you will not like England then hospital parking isn't free and it's pay and display rather than pay at the end for the time you use.

That's because the English have to fund their own hospitals. It's probably why they don't insist on writing everything twice, once in the international language of business and again in a language spoken as a hobby by dour farmers.

Assembly government tries to differentiate from England just for the sake of it and then constantly compares itself to England. Huge waste of money

I'm not welsh but I like living here. Wales really has a huge amount going for it but if the welsh would just accept it can't complete with England, or should I say the history of the south east having a global scale economy, and realise it is not dissimilar to most English regions they might get the chip off their shoulder!

£9 billion is also the figure I heave heard. But WAG claim to be £400m underfunded, not taking unto account benefit payments.

What's this about free hospital parking in Wales? There are charges at Heath Hospital, even for staff furious

But, isn't any point out side of London (and a small part of London at that) going to spend more in tax than it takes, or am I miss understanding averages again?
