Sorry to start another tyre thread.
I will shortly be putting some 16'' Imola's on the font of my 1999 car.
If you have them on yours can you tell me the tyre size please that works for you.

Thank you

David

Has anyone got a picture of a Chim on 4 16's ?
Be interested to see what it looks like as I've been thinking about it myself recently too
Cheers

225/45ZR16 on mine (with rack stops), as fitted by the factory on the last cars, most of which had PAS - you don't need spacers.

Or the tubular lower front arms I think from straight 8-6 or sc power then no rack stops or spacers !

Or there is also the 16" F&R Estoril option keeping with the original theme:

I don't know that it makes any difference visually, but certainly after fitting the 16" on my car over 3 years ago the front end grip improved noticeably with less tendancy to understeer and tramline.

I initially needed 5mm of rackstop to stop the offside wheel fouling the lower suspension arm on full RHD lock, I understand it all depends on how centrally your rack is located as to whether you need anything.

hi, i run 225/45zr16's on mine with rack stops. i will be putting 5mm spacers on next week though as the turn in on mini roundabouts feels slightly odd. mine doesnt have power steering either & only feels slightly heavier at slow speeds than with 15's on the front.

Great

Thanks to all, I have ordered the tyres today and am having them fitted on Wednesday. Got a great deal on some Continentals ( would not usually spec these) however two fitted for £144 !! total. Z rated as well.

Got the rack stops today £15 with the postage for two nylon washers that I could buy for £1.20 for four at B&Q . Got them from a well know company in Hampshire thinking they may be a bit more to them than this, what a total rip off. I genuinely find the quality of the part and it's providence an insult.

Anyway, still cant really work put how to fit these high tech 'rack stops' (tap base washers).

If you have done it can you let me know please.

Thanks
David

The only problem when having the same size wheels on all four corners is the wall height front to rears needs to be 1" different to give the original spec diameter. So visually it look slightly odd !

Well they are on and 16'' all round.
225/45/16 on the front and no rubbing or need for the rack stops so far.

Have to say the car does feel much more directional at the front and the steering is lighter ! PAS , it must like the slightly wider tyre.

All good I think and 4 off 15'' wheels now in the classifieds.
