I generally try to fit my trackdays in around my wife and kids being away, and I have such an opportunity coming up in August, but there aren't many trackdays taking place on the days I have free.

One of the available days is doing Oulton Park with BHP Trackdays. Has anyone used them before, are they any good? But more importantly, I'm keen to avoid days which are dominated by much more powerful cars. Being a relative novice in a relatively low powered car (NA MX5) I'm not keen on spending my day checking the rear view mirror as 911's and X-bows fly past me. Anyone know what type of cars tend to attend BHP days? The website seems to mainly have photos of caterfields, but I'd be interested in first hand experience.

The alternative is Blyton Park with Javelin, which I'm happy to do but will require a 5hr round trip, with Oulton Park being only 30mins away.

Cheers

I think it depends partly on luck. The one and only day I did with BHP at Oulton was c10 days before the BTCC weekend so had Touring Cars, Porsche Supercup and Clio Cup drivers doing their thing so yes spent alot of time looking in the rear view mirror
The best advice i got was check whats on at the track in the next few weeks as probably some of those entrants will use the opportunity for errrrm unofficial testing.
Oulton is a great track so would go for it if possible
I think BHP have somewhere on their site who has already signed up for the day so maybe use that as a guide too

I've done several trackdays with BHP at Castle Combe and have booked for next Monday's. Have always found them enjoyable because they limit the field (if one can call it that!) to, I believe, 28 cars which mean there's never too many on track at once.

Cheers. I've had exactly the same in the past at Oulton with MSV - lots of trailered race cars using it as a test day. I'll head off and check Oulton's Calender to see what's coming up.
