Clivef T350c Exhaust
Discussion
Long overdue - not had the best month at work, apologies...
Right, 3.6 2005 standard engine from the factory, exhaust standard except for Clivef back box re-working/magic. Cats still in, though soooo tempted to remove them - Clive developed this to lower the raspiness of a decatted system... it just happens to also sound fantastic with cats!
The vids do not quite do it justice, I will try to get more shortly at a Sprint/hillclimb. The idle is bassy, not in a boy racer way - its actually quieter than my Borla system on my mx5 at idle - the bass smoothens the note, hopefully those with decent sound systems on their PC's will hear it, but I recommend checking it out in person. As the vids show, it then heads into a glorious howl with revs, the sound switching in a very nice way through different tones - it offers so much more than the standard system IMHO.
It also pops and bangs, but due to the smoothness of the note, you do have to listen out for them to notice in car - decatting should make these even better, but what I am saying is, it is never unduly intrusive. At 70-90 on steady throttles it is still very very quiet, so perfect for motorway stuff/touring - open the throttle up and it howls. The overall noise level seems to be the same - we're tested often and it is comfortably between 95-98 all the time, which for track days is essential. We could run at the strictest circuits in the UK still.
Great system, huge thanks to Clivef for letting us be the first (well, second after him) to try them. When he said it was bassier, I feared it would be just a barrage of noise that I have heard from other T350's - this couldn't be further from the truth, it is just a great sound, a very well balanced one at that. Most systems seem to miss this dark art - it is all very well having something loud and generally great sounding, but it gets tiresome - the real trick is to make it sound great constantly at a bareable volume and then come alive on/off throttle openings.
Enjoy!

More to come when the opportunity arises.

Ive got the same from Clive but while fitting it i have fitted some decats and wrapped the manifolds, unfortunatly the woodruff key broke when getting the car of the ramps last month.I get the car back tomorrow I hope so will do noise tests tomorrow and let you know how loud it is with decatts in.
Ive finally got my car back and would like to thank you Clive. Ive also fitted decatts at same time just to see wether I could get it to breath better and stay within a reasonable sound. @ 4500rpm its 98db at 0-5 m which is very good I thought. The big difference is at 2500 to 3000rpm my car was deafening before with a horrible droning sound, now it has a nice rasp to it.Anybody thinking of this mod I would recommend it as it has made a big difference.
Cheers Clive
Cheers Clive
glad you are happy with it
just fitted a couple of trackday silencers/end cans on ready for my first track day this friday, got it all warmed up and did a db test, 4500rpm @.5m reading 92db!!!
will see what the official reading is on friday, but like you think I`ll get away with standard cans on for a trackday

Would be interested in knowing what the db level is with your larger end cans on Clive
Fitted mine when i returned from the Growl at the weekend on the Sag, and does sound really good with your larger end cans fitted, in conjunction with your modded back box. The decats are going on this week, so will get a good comparison on what it sounds like with the cats in and without the cats, running with the modded back box and larger end cans

That seems very quiet indeed... perhaps we could decat ours. Cheers Clive

Even catted it sounds fantastic, but I want slightly louder pops and bangs.

well the sound test at the track/airfield day yesterday was 98db with trackday silencers fitted, so perhaps my meter is reading a bit low? although watching these guys it does make a lot of difference depending on which angle the meter is held at, at the tag11 event at goodwood, the marshalls had a rod attached to the db meter, and it had a 45deg bend at the end of it to give a good guide to hold it to, these chaps had a straight rod, so you can angle it where ever you like
I must confess, after a whole day in the car I am thinking of keeping the trackday silencers on, its suprising how the noise gets to you and tires you out quicker after a whole days driving.

I have been running around with the clivef modified exhaust for a month or so and the sound is so much better, really nice sound and not too loud. Track V Road fitted it and my standard is exhaust is still with them if anyone wants to purchase it and have it shipped to Clive for modifying let me know.
