some will know that I'm selling my car to fund a Chimaera, not getting that much interest and had a potential buyer no show today. I have though been offered a straight swap for a boxster seems in good condition and looking at parker/Caps of similar private sale guide price but quite a bit more in trae in price ???

So thinking maybe a sideways move to the boxster which possibily would sell easier and more attractive for a swap deal or if worse come to worse better value for trade in

Or in my haste to get a Chimarea am I mising any obvious pitfalls ?

One problem I would see with selling the Boxster or swapping with someone for a chim is that you won't have had the boxster long poss days, weeks so personally I'd be suspicous as a buyer. If you were trading in then probably wouldn't make any odds and like you say boxster would probably shift quicker than the Merc as people always seem to want girls cars! Although I usually class SLK's as girls cars toolaugh

Had a boxster for a while, tried to sell it for 2 months, ended up giving it away to a trader!
I just feel all cars, that are concidered to be exotic in some way, are hard to sell in these financial times,

boxster S surely ?

standard boxster ? forget it !

and pre-987 boxsters interiors are really nasty.

987 3.4 Boxster S is a great car and at least a match for anything out there point to point.

but if you're spending in the £8k to £12k range, hold out for a chim, no question

yes - apologies for the oversight - manual, definitely.

Although Porsche would argue the new PDK equipped car is quicker,I don't "do" auto, semi-auto, flappy paddle, SMG, tiptronic or whatever else you want to call it.

I had a 3.4 RS Spyder (and a 3.2 S before that) with short shift and it was lovely in every single respect. Had it from 1800mls to 12000 miles. I bottled it before the car did at 161mph. And the quicker it went the more planted it felt. But that's at the £30k + level for a well used one....

Stick with the AMG until it's sold, or if you're impatient and are willing to pay a little more to make the change, then one of the indies will take it trade in.

All tongue in cheek!

After loads of thrashing, I have only broken down once, that was when the 100 amp fuse went tongue out.
