630i Any Experiences?
Discussion
I've had a 630i sport about 3 months now and can honestly say its the best car I have owned. I make excuses for going out in it and have to drive with the window down in manual mode so I can listen to the lovely sound of the straight six winding up. It's plenty quick enough and can be thrown around surprisingly well. On tighter b roads although the car is willing and able its footprint holds it back as its considerably bigger than a 3series. As a long distance GT its perfect combining a large boot effortless cruising and comfort of a 7 series.

If you like the sound of your 630i go and drive a 650i and see what happens
Orgasmic experience each time I drive her

My personal opinion is that the 6 series BMW is a vastly under-rated car. The interior is a lovely place to be, build quality is spot on and whilst at certain angles the looks can be "marmite" I actually think it makes for a rather handsome (not pretty) car which seems to get better with age (e60 is also in this space imho)
I had an M6 until some toerags decided to take it from me - I can say without a doubt after TVR Cerbies, Lotus Esprit, Mitsi EVO, etc., it was one of the most capable and enjoyable cars I have ever owned.
As an everyday proposition it's a tight squeeze but just about manageable for rear passengers - suggest this should be occasional rather than regular journeys. Boot space is great, the Logic 7 system I had in the M6 was amazing.
Altogether the 6er is a much more special proposition than a 3 series and the build, design, etc., shows it.
650i are a complete bargain in these frugal days....

One month in with my 650. Feels special.
Fuel consumption is similar (possibly better) to my wife's 2002 E46 330i convertible. 700 miles last week over 4 days, mostly quick motorway , some quite spirited A roads, trip computer showed 29.4
On a 55 plate you get the cheaper road rent £240 I believe.
The looks continue to grow on me, especially after you have washed it and I now like it a lot, although it will never be a beauty.
Noise is epic!
A 650 over 12k miles would use 12000 / 26mpg = 461 gallons =£2,856 (assume 1.35 per litre. A 630 (30 mpg) would use £2475. So call it £400 per year (£1.10 per day) difference. Say misc expenses cost an extra £300 per year, so £700 per year difference between a 630 & a 650
Possibly applied too much piston head logic to chosing the 650 over the 630!

I ran a 650 cab for just over 2 years and 50k miles. Fabulous car which put a smile on my face every single time I drove it and very sensible running costs. You can buy a nice one now for crazy money and you just need to make sure you pay the extra to keep it under extended warranty just in case.
I will buy another when I don't need the extra back seat space so my endorsement is if you are thinking of a 6 then go for it and as others have said the 650 may actually be the smarter choice with fairly nominal real world cost differences

Been chatting to a guy with a 2.7l TDI Q7, ignoring the practical differences, my 650i is as efficient on the fuel (almost!) as his Q7! £150 for him to fill and gets 600 miles, my 650 is £85 to fill and I get ~340miles. The car has been rock solid over the past 18 months and my wife and I have enjoyed every minute. The sense of occasion when driving it never gets tiring.
Oh, as previously said... the noise is EPIC!
