When I saw reports of a $4.8 billion dollar yacht on the water I looked in to it and found the biggest load of balls I have ever seen doing the rounds on the internet.

http://stuarthughes.com/newdawn/product_info.php?p...

Aparently this fella Suart Hughes has taken a GRP 100' Italian built Baia, with a displacemnt of around 80 tonnes, and added stuff like:
"The main sleeping quarter was adorned with platinum accents of which included , wall feature , made from meteoric stone , with genuine Dinosaur bone shaved in from the raptor T – REX"

And the real kicker:
"a circa of 100,000 kilograms of solid gold and platinum were added to make this an exciting project. All features inc deck , dinning area , rails , anchor , made from precious metals. The base of the vessel was wrapped in gold , a thin layer was formed to embrace this huge section."

I then watched the video at the bottom of the web page and decided it must be real as ties like that can only be worn by stand up guys.

Actually, I sell the world's most expensive yacht. It is 6 billion dollars, and looks the same as the one above, but has a matt black vinyl wrap and a wide arch kit.

So if it has a displacement of 80 tons, how does it float with 100,000 kilo's of gold on it? confused

Indeed, he hasn't really thought it through has he...

If we had any sense we'd impound it and use it to pay off the national debt...

What's the market price of 100,000kg of gold?

If you thought the boat was overpriced how about some of their other 'designs':-

a tarted-up Fiat 500 for €500,000 or a bottle of D' Amalfi Limoncello Supreme
liqeur for £27million.yikes

They should rename the website www.wesawyoucoming.com.

A quick Google gives £3.16 billion. So convert that to dollars and you get just over $5 billion for the cost of the raw gold alone. Be fair, this guy is cutting his own throat selling it at that price!

that has to be total bks, the annual gold production worldwide is about 25,000 tonnes... one 25th of that apparently went into this boat... great..

I didn't realise that Kahn Design had opened an office outside of Bratfurt? Or maybe it is a branch of Mansoury?

The boat is a total flight of fancy for countless reasons, however I find it troubling that this bloke may have actually made some real money from selling this stuff, like a gold Ipad or the other bits like the playstation.

He must laugh himself to sleep every night.
