Diff Oil Spec for 1994 Griff 500

Can anyone recommend Diff oil for a 1994 Griff 500 with a Salisbury Diff.
The inner wing states MobilLube HD90 but I can’t find any of this near me.

I’d like to change it before Le Mans if possible so preferably off the shelf at somewhere like Halfords and I think they do Castrol products.

I think you'll need Castrol Hypoy LS (LSD) 90 - Doubt that Halfrauds will stock it. There's also a race/rally lube for LSDs called Castrol B373, you might check that out: www.castrolclassicoils.co.uk/gear_oils.htm

I doubt you'd see much difference, I think cold tyres are more of a problem that the Salisbury diff operation/workings with cold oil!!

The difference in 75w/80w is so small I think it is produced like that for OE Manufacturer Specs and you'd actually not notice much difference - If you're into high speed circuits I'd go for 80w/90 and 75w/90 for general road use throughout the year..............but someone else may have a different slant on this.

I notice I got the wrong oil anyway after I re-read your first post. The Hypoy LS is SAE 90 so I looks like that is the one to go for. I'll give it a go.

Morris Oils do a specific oil for that diff XEP90, even specifies TVR on container. Morris Lubricants. Castle Foregate,Shrewsbury, Shropshire. SY1 2EL. 01743 232200. www.morrislubricants.co.uk. I have used it for years and never had any issues, not even the price. They do an excellent range of lubricants suitable for all TVR's sTeVeR

No probs - I thought you'd found some multigrade LS oil anyway !!!!

Stick with the single grade as it was designed for LSD.

I had mine checked a few weeks ago & discovered the previous owner had used straight hypoy oil not LSD - Now changed and much smoother powering out of r'bouts - I'll see for real in a couple of weeks time at Castle Coombe.
