Does anyone have a fully maintained personal lease on a 3 series diesel and prepared to share their price with me?

My BIK at the moment is circa £120/month but am trying to work out the gap to a like for like personal lease, 20k miles per annum, and what gross salary would be required to run it.

IIRC when I was looking at a 320 ed the business lease rate was £397 pm for 20k fully maintained. So that's plus VAT for private lease approx £480.

You'd need a car allowance of well over £700 to be able to fund it entirely from company contributions. However whilst your personal allowance would return to near the maximum, you would pay 40% tax on the car allowance plus NI. So you would be worse off tax wise but with more take home IYSWIM

I can't see how a car allowance would be beneficial in this instance.

That's what it's all about though. Plus with a company car someone else is taking care of insurance, road tax (minimal on a 320ED though), tyres etc.

Best thing about a company car is the peace of mind and not really worrying if it gets bashed/stolen etc.

The BIK versus taking the cash and leasing yourself argument tends to start making sense on the 25% BIK (and above) cars.

Run the numbers for a 335i for example!

I have guesstimated that maintained personal lease plus tax, insurance, breakdown cover for a 40% tax payer is equivalent to circa £12k+ gross salary per annum to put oneself back in a near identical situation having had company car.
