been advised one of my shocks is leaking and need it sorted asap before le mans.
I am going down the avo route. I know some people swear by them and some swear at them but I am going to give them a whirl.
Can someone recommend where to buy them cheap and get them asap?
Try Joolz - next day delivery and pay him when you're happy - Don't forget to get the linear springs - AVOs won't like the TVR progressive ones (neither will your fillings) - I know I had them !!!

was thinking of mailing joolz for them but cant give him the business to fit them so felt a bit guilty as he has helped me out of holes before (not in that sense
) and I didnt want to burden him once again.shnozz said:

Try em!
Colin, what set are you talking about?
For the extra cash I'm happy to give the money to a specialist, i.e. Joolz
Hi
I just had to make the same decision as Peninsula told me my rear shocks failed the MOT due to leaks.
I went for AVOs all round as a middle option between TVR replacements and Nitrons (which I really wanted but couldn't justify along with £700 of other service work!).
But, I am having them with the standard springs not the linear springs mentioned above. Adding in the cost of new springs brings them close to Nitron price. Does anybody have AVOs with standard springs? Is this going to be OK or am I making a schoolboy error? I know the AVOs have been recently updated so perhaps this isn't an issue any more?
Thanks for any advice
Marco

I have AVOs on standard springs, great improvement over standard, just make sure you have them on the minimum setting for the first 500 miles otherwise they will not bleed properly, I've only gone 2 clicks up on each and they are working well. Polybushed mine at the same time as well.
All of the following is IMHO - Not very scientific or objective.
I had bushes and shocks replaced. Even on 2 clicks, I couldn't believe how "stiff" the ride had become, especially up to 40/60 mph and over dips in the road - this was with TVR progessive standard springs (600+ miles).
Joolz was interrogated and it appears the Avos (latest) are "valved" for linear spring. The TVR ones will, over short bumps, not allow the Avos to react fast enough and the rear starts to "jack down" so reducing even more the amount of travel and comfort.
I'm now on linears, as recommended by Joolz (he DID'NT SUPPLY THE AVOs incidently !!!), and the Avos are now at 9/10 rear and 7/8 front for road use. SWMBO, the reference model, has confirmed my impressions that spring change was necessary and currently riding more smoothly & more controlled that originals.
Besides, I are an engineer and I now can "fiddle" with settings and generally feel superior to those who can't !!! (My "engineering" is nothing to do with suspension or handling BTW!!!)
