A Panasonic plasma is what will be suggested to you. Less than 42" LCD is meant to be better, 42" and above plasma. Having said that, do they make plasma tellys smaller than 42"?
Panasonic dropped their 37" plasma with the launch of this years models. Having said that the new 37" E3 or E30 LED backlit LCD's are pretty good!I have a Panasonic Plasma which is excellent. Was always the case that LCD was all well and good, but it ould not handle fast moving images very well (left a 'trail' across the screen) so was poor for watching sports etc, not sure if this is still the case. Worst thing about my Plasma is the energy it uses, gets very warm! AIUI LCD tv's use substantially less power.
I wouldnt buy a Panasonic plasma if they were the last TV on earth, they are undoubtedly the best performer but after swapping 7 screens in G20's just in 3 days even with a JL 5 year warantee to me it isnt worth it, id go for a Samsung, better cabinet, better reliability and less expensive when they do fail but picture not as good. Lets hope the 30's do better but well.. i doubt it.

Headcase...Do you think it might be a 'batch' issue? Whats the reson for swap outs? We havent seen any issues yet! Couple of V20 problems and a few buzzy power supplies on s20s. E31Shrew said:

No, we contract to a lot of big sales companies and are also a main Pana dealer so i doubt its a batch issue, the problem with the 20's is that its not just the usual line and obvious panel failure, they will come in with the flashing standby error code (usualy different) pointing towards a specific board, so you swap out the board and it blows again, we have had several in where we have had to swap several boards (some twice) and the screen then even after that after a few hours of use another of the board pops! Its going to cost a purchaser a fortune to repair once out of guarantee. TheP70 was the last of the reliable Panasonics after that even with their superior performance I certainly wouldnt buy one.Headcase, I wouldn't agree about the P70 mine has had 3 failures in the last few months resulting in 2 new PDP displays, and various boards replaced it has just gone back for repair for the fourth time under extended warranty and am currently negotiating with Panasonic about " writing it off " and contributing to the new ST30 that I have just bought to replace the dam thing.
My trusty old PW4 however has been brilliant, 9 years in loads of use and no problems whatsoever. It will of course promptly now explode....
