£49 for a pair of wiper blades???

The wife's car needs some front wiper blades, so I went to a local independent parts place. 2007 seat altea, pair of front wipers, and they wanted £49 Inc trade discount!!! They are these new fangled aero wipers, but were about £12 each when I replaced the aero wipers on my A3!

Get on ebay ffs, I just bought a set of aero wipers for my Hyundai coupe, less than a 12 quid inc p&p. and arrived in 2 days.

Personally I would only ever use Bosch wipers, I have tried the rest and they were shocking.

Shouldn't be more than £25 a set, try eurocarparts online.

EDIT: Surprisingly expensive on the Seat Altea, ECP coming up as £35.40 the set, then 15% discount and free delivery still puts them at £30 ish.

There's a trend in modern cars to fit obscure wipers which you're stuck buying from dealers and specialists...

In future, aim for cars which take a standard item (which even includes some high-end BMWs) and get em from Wilkinsons

Bosch ones are nearly £40 per set for the A6, but they are better than non Bosch ones. It's the Aero Twin that is expensive.

If the Altea's 26" blades are anything like the Leon's then they're not your traditional blades with hook and click fittings, but aeros with strange pinch/tab style ones.

Makes it a right PITA to find cheaper alternatives, and renders answers of "I got these el-cheapo ones from Tesco" about as much use as a visit to the spider enclosure for an arachnophobic.

Sere motors in ireland might well be able to do some OEM ones for a reasonable price including delivery. Bosch exact fits also seem to work ok, but they're as pricey as OEM (I'm lead to believe they ARE the OEM supplier).

At this point I should probably point out I didn't buy them... I said some words I'm not proud of and said that price was beyond a joke. Then said some more words I'm not proud of!

ECP sounds like a good idea, I have a few friends in ECP so will see what I can do! otherwise GSF must do an equivalent for a golf plus (same platform!).

Halfords do the aero style wipers. No idea how much but will surely be less than £49 with a trade discount

Sort of - the retention mechanism uses different variants of pinch tabs. The blades essentially slide into the holding arms instead of clipping into them from the top.

I did a quick check - my local fuel station (BP) carries a range of wipers from Bosch for £12 - £16 a pair.

Costco do a similar range for a similar price.

Couldn't see any in Tesco.

Some smaller motor parts shops sell wiper rubber by the foot. Pair of pliers, strip out old rubber fit new. Jobs a good 'un. Couple of quid at the most.

Have u tried Andrew page? I got bosche aero retro fits from there, can't remember what I paid but it certainly won't have been £49 on principle!
