Please help. I am 28 and about to purchase a Chimeara worth around 20k. The problem I have is that I have 6 points (both SP30) and I have not found a quote yet for under £1200. I also have a battered mondeo worth about £250 which I would like to hang on to for the 'bread and milk run', only problem is that it would cost me 600 quid (3rd party only!) as I will have used up all my 5 years NCB on the Chimaera. Can anyone recommend a company that are likely to insure both and not mind too much that I was caught doing 36 MPH in a 30 zone a couple of times (reckless I know, but VW polos are deceiving!)

Many thanks
Matt

Have you done the usual like limited mileage / extra excess? Do a search on these forums you should be able to get more links to insurance companies.
Have you considered swopping your banger for a smaller banger (I have a ix Punto which is cheap to insure on Group 1 for instance) Good hunting

Have you tried Classic Line 01455 639035 (Part of Ian Fray & Co) - they don't "use" your no-claims, so keep that for the Mondeo.

cant help on the speeding front cos I am an angel actually, cos I have a Road Angel...

but.. I use Mannings on the TVR and they mirror my NCB from my everyday hack. About £580 on the chim and £350 on the rover, TPFT only mind. Age 25 with full NCB

I was in a similar situation to you last year, 28, first TVR, live in London. 0 NCB but 0 points as well. Cheapest was Elephant at £1350 but for only 10 months. Went with Peart in the end (do a search for the number), free TVRCC track days, £500 excess, 5k miles, approx £1400. Not too shabby. Insurance is up for renewal soon so with 1 year NCB (touch wood) I'm hoping for something cheaper this year. Good Luck!
