Evening all.
The Mrs is out for the night so I've got a fridge full of Peroni and I'm expecting to Get through them all.

But I've been to the farm shop and got a joint of belly pork to munch on later.
I've just pulled it from the oven and it looks so good I thought I'd share.

Now I've always used belly pork as a munchie kind of thing but what other lines of dishes could I do with it?

We went to some friends for a bit of a party last week and they had done some pork belly.
He marinated it overnight in various herbs and spices with honey then vacuum packed it. Not sure if you need to do that smile . The next day he cooked it in the oven for about six hours at a low heat. It was well worth it. I am not a big fan of pork but this was lovely.

Looks good, artery hardening stuff biggrin
Layer of fat keeps it moist. Would have thought there'd be plenty of recipes online and perhaps different ways of cooking it

I'd suggest chopping one up in to bite-sized pieces and then adding it to a spicy sweet and sour sauce with fresh chilli, soy, sesame, ginger and serve it with rice and greens.

Cut it into 2 inch squares and cook crackling side down to start, when crackling is crispy turn regulary on other sides until done, serve with favourite dipping sauce, yum and bugger the arteries !

roast it on top of a bed of peeled, sliced apples, very finely sliced onion and a load of fennel seeds. after 30-40mins fill the roasting dish with sherry.

by the time the prok is perfect, all you need do is mash the resultant apple/onion into the reduction and you have either an amazing apple sauce for serving with spuds/veg, or a dip for tapas style belly.

I dust it with chinese five spice before roasting and serve it cut into pieces with noodles, pak choi and a soy/ginger dressing.

Looks yum smile

How long did those two pieces take to cook in the oven? I may give it a shot this week.

I really like this recipe, though I guess some people would not like the melt-in-the-mouth fat.
